CITYSCAPE CABINET IN VARIOUS TIMBERS

Based on a number of Manhattan/New York buildings, this piece grew out of the client's brief to 'remind him of his recent trip to the US' . The client's background in architecture coloured the commission, and encouraged lively debate over construction and materials.
Timbers are almost all English and include: Yew, Laburnum, Walnut, Sycamore, Pear, Oak, Ash, Harewood, Maple and Ebony.
Each building facade represents a different compartment or set of drawers. Some are inlayed with contrasting woods, others with metals and some are complete glass fronts with etched window details.

The overall size of the piece is about 96 ins. wide and about the same in height (to the top of the Chrysler Building!), depth ranges from about 15 ins. to 24 ins.
